other bookbinding equipment.
Work History: Woodside Press began in 1993 at the liquidation of the American Type Founders
Company in Elizabeth, New Jersey. I and a now-former partner bought the 10" x 15" Chandler & Price platen press used in
the ATF proofing department, We added it to my mothballed inherited equipment in Woodside, New York and experimented with ways
to do business with what we had. In 1998 we expanded to a 5000 sq ft plant in a building in The Brooklyn Navy Yard, and in 2004
my departing partner and I split the press's holdings. I run the operation now along with Davin Kuntze and Mark Anders.
Lou Lucchi is resident typographer. Our clients include The Museum of Modern Art, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, graphic-design
firms, event planners, and countless betrothed couples. Woodside Press Editions include "June Paris: Wood Engravings" (1999,
displayed in "Ninety from the Nineties" at The New York Public Library); "Bartleby, the Scrivener: A Tale of Wall Street" by Herman
Melville (2003, the 150th anniversary of its publication); and "A Visit from Saint Nicholas" by Clement Clarke Moore (also 2003,
with original wood engravings by Sandy Connors).
Education: A.B., Harvard College
Other Interests/Hobbies: I
wrote restaurant reviews for eighteen years, mostly for "Gourmet," and I am, more recently, a graduate of The French Culinary Institute
in New York City.
