How I Got Involved in Letterpress Printing: I am a third generation printer. I started
in my fathers' shop running a C&P when I was 12. My primary job at that young age became re-distribution of type that my father
and older brothers had set. I learned the type case very well.
Presses & Equipment: My shop currently has a 1910 C&P
with treddle (8x10), 1947 C&P motorized (10x15), Miehle V50, Vandercook 15-21 with adjustable bed, C&P 30" paper cutter and
5 racks of type drawers.
Work History: I have stayed in printing, except for my Army time and have generally enjoyed it all.
Over the years I have run Little Giant, C&P, Kluge, Windmill and Miehle V50 letterpresses. I have also run a number of offset
presses and bindery equipment. I spent several years in camera and stripping for a large web forms shop, mostly working nights.
Education: Completed
high school in Rolla, Missouri and then into the army where I was given some auto mechanics training, which has saved me some money
over the years in keeping the cars tuned up.
Other Interests/Hobbies: I also enjoy weaving, though I don't spend much time at
it. I have a small loom and occationally get a project on it just for fun and relaxation.
