I am an artist-printer whose medium is letterpress print using hand operated
presses, lead and wood type and illustration blocks, which are either found or created by me using photo-polymer or carved linoleum
block.
Using this method, I produce limited editions of posters, postcards and other printed ephemera. I have an interest
in the vernacular and the historical development of the bill-poster and it’s dual function as a means of imparting information and
a form of public art. My work also explores the role of typography with image as a means of communication. I have a collection of
printing equipment, which lends itself to experimentation with inking, overprinting and colour, making it possible to produce a run
of print, whereby each piece is unique. This working method, I believe, positions me mid-way between artist and designer.
I
graduated from Central St Martin's College of Art in 2005 with an MA in Communication Design. To support my studies and my own personal
projects, I carried out a self -funded internship at Hatch Showprint a commercial letterpress print shop and working museum in Nashville,
USA. I am a member of The Association of Illustrators, British Printing Society and participate in the Letterpress Exchange Group,
which is archived by University of Reading. My work has recently featured in Design Week, LeGun magazine, Rubbish magazine, in conjunction
with HarrimanSteel Design Associates. My work also forms part of the University of the Arts London Collection.
