How I Got Involved in Letterpress
Printing: Just after college I worked at the Rosenbach Museum (
www.rosenbach.org) in Philadelphia. That got me started in book collecting
(paper airplanes) and the English Private Presses of the 18th Century. Found an 5x8 Kelsey and started with holiday cards, notepads,
business cards, and birth announcements for the kids when they arrived.
Presses & Equipment: Currently the main press is
an 8x12 C&P OS with the split ink table and an original treadle. Also a Vandercook #1 and now a Vandercook #0. 30" Paragon paper
cutter, Rosback perforator, 100 or so cases of type. House face is Garamond. I also have runs of Trafton, Gravure, Kauffman, Murray
Hill and Wedding Text.
Work History: Librarian and Computer Programmer. Retired now.
Education: Lots and lots, some of it
useful. BS in Geography, MS in Librarianship, MS (almost: ABT) in Computer Science
Other Interests/Hobbies: Science Fiction,
Folk Music, Book Collecting, Needlework, Philately, Coin collecting, Flint Knapping.
Group Memberships, if any: NAPA, AAPA, APA
#807
Birth Date or Birth Year: 1951
