How I Got Involved in Letterpress Printing: I was introduced
to Letterpress printing in 1996 when I was employed at Fossil as creative director, we did an Annual Report and a set of tin designs
at Hatch Show Print in Nashville, TN, there I met Jim Sherraden who manages Hatch and I got the letterpress bug, lots of history,
technique, creativity, and very beautiful. I quit Fossil after 9 years and went to work at Arthur Anderson; I lost my Anderson job
8 months later because of the technology bust. Then I got to thinking how much I loved letterpress, not knowing where to purchase,
onto ebay I went, there I bought a 3x5 Kelsey, and a 6x9 Kelsey in 2001. In 2002 in San Angelo, TX, I bought the Challenge 15MP so
I could do posters. In Georgetown, TX in 2003 I bought the Vandercook 4 which prints excellent. In 2005 I rescued the Vandercook 32-28
from going to the scrap yard. In addition, in 2005 I bought an Original Heidelberg Windmill, which came from Charles the Printer in
TX, which prints better than I could have ever imagined. I’m self-taught on all the presses thanks to manuals, reading forums and
asking lots of questions of my friend Jim Irwin out in AZ.
