Started printing at age 54, now 30 years later am still printing.
In the early days bought a number of small shops, mainly to get type, sold excess presses and type. Have owned and used more than
40 presses, Favorite presses 8x12 and 10x 15 C&P, like Pearls for small jobs, have had #1, #3, #11 Pearls. Many tabletop, Kelseys,
Pilots, Craftsman, Sigwalt, Official and probably a dozen or more proof presses. Now scaling down, my wife Dolly, has a 6x10 sidelever
Kelsey, I have a 7x11 Oldstyle Gordon and a Showcard proof press that I'd give away. At one time had over 500 fonts of type in cases,
now down to about 150 and would part with many of those.
The first few years did some commercial printing, cards, invitations
and numbering, scoring, preforating and die-cutting, these last five mostly for offset shops. Besides personal printing have printed
many years for "It's a Small World," "Treasure Gems," "Ink Cahoots" and a few for "The Gobboon," have printed letterpress and bound
five miniature and four larger books.
Writing is a sometime thing, but have never done a journal as use only letterpress. Am
thinking about starting a web site to be able to share some of my observations with a wider readership.
